Electrochemical Etching
Station

Product Development: Etching Station Description The etching station is a precision device designed to etch samples in a controlled environment. The design can either be created from scratch or modified from existing setups, focusing on specific sample dimensions to ensure compatibility. The sample holder, made from Teflon to prevent interference with the etching process, is shaped like a nut for easy insertion and removal. The current holder diameter is 27.5mm, fitting perfectly into the existing station's aperture. Function The etching station operates by positioning a sample in place, connecting the positive electrode to the sample's surface, and the negative electrode to the acid. The station lowers the sample into the acid with a mechanism that allows for precise adjustments. After etching, the sample is lifted, and the electrodes are disconnected. The station can rotate to place the sample into different liquids for sequential processing. Modifications Sample Holder: Replace the metal holder with a Teflon one to avoid residue and interference. Precise Mechanism: Upgrade the lever at the top for more accurate control in raising and lowering the station. Rotary Mechanism: Add a rotary base to hold three glasses with different acids, each with a diameter of 5cm, to streamline the etching process. Electrode Placement: Move the negative electrode from the movable part to the base to improve ease of operation and prevent disconnection issues. These enhancements aim to improve the station's precision, convenience, and overall functionality, making the etching process more efficient and user-friendly.
